At the end of November 2017, HDMI 2.1 standard was officially released. Now more than three years later, relevant equipment are emerging. Of course, they are high-end goods, and we can’t expect them to be popularized to the mass market.

Today, the HDMI forum officially announced the launch of a new “ultra high speed HDMI 2.1 cables” compulsory certification program, which can fully support all features of HDMI 2.1 and output all functions from the source device to the display screen.

This includes 4k120hz / 8k60hz lossless video, dynamic HDR, earc (audio return channel), VRR (variable refresh rate), QMS (fast media switching), QFT (fast frame transmission), allm (automatic low delay mode), etc.

In fact, this ultra-high speed data line was designed at the beginning of the announcement of HDMI 2.1, but it has been waiting for more than three years before it finally became a reality.

HDMI 2.1 has been born for three years: the landing of 8K TV with ultra-high speed data line has been completed

The compulsory certification of ultra-high speed HDMI data line includes the test of meeting the current EMI electromagnetic radiation requirements and minimizing wireless interference. Any length of data line must pass the certification test of HDMI ATC (Authorized Test Center) to obtain certification.

For the certified ultra-high speed HDMI data line, the product name, certification label, hologram and QR code will be marked on the packaging box and wire. The product information can be obtained and verified by scanning with a special HDMI data line certification app.

At present, more than 140 data line manufacturers have participated in the advanced certification program of HDMI.
